Winter Centers and Activities for PreK-1st

November 18, 2017

Can you believe it? November is almost over, which means Christmas is right around the corner! Use your fall/Thanksgiving break to start prepping for your winter centers and activities!

Here are some of the following activities we plan to use:

MATH:

With these fun winter themed mats, we can practice our number sense skills! Using a mat, kiddos can sort ice skate ten frames, numerals, snowman tallies, and count snowballs! (Click the picture for more!)

We are also excited to try out our winter themed even and odd number activities! We will count snowballs and use a mat to sort the cards by even and odd numbers. We also have a few printables to reinforce this! (Click on either picture for more info!)

Still need to practice counting? Some of our kiddos will be using these write and wipe missing number strips to practice number order, with a fun snowflake theme! (Click the picture for more info!)

Lastly, we have our more and less activities that I am most excited about using! We will be using our more and less clip cards, as well as our more and less sorting mats (which happen to be my favorite!) You can see these in action below!

LITERACY

We also have some exciting literacy activities planned for the winter!

Our interactive emergent reader practices handwriting, sight words, vocabulary, following directions, and more! The best part is that they are differentiated and low prep! No fancy folding required. There are 2 versions for differentiation: one with words to trace, and one where students write the words on their own. (Click either picture for more information!)

We will also be practicing syllables with a snowman syllable board game. This is sure to be an exciting center! Also in our literacy centers, we will be using Beginning Sounds Dab-Its, and we have a ton of writing activities including graphic organizers, flipbooks, writing prompts, and fine motor pages.
